FADAA regularly participates in and administers operations for special programs and projects with statewide reach to support initiatives that grow and support quality behavioral health service for Floridians.
Medication Assisted Treatment Programs
FADAA is the fiscal administrator for programs funded through the Office of State Courts Administrator and the Department of Children and Families to support the cost of FDA-approved medications for the treatment of substance use disorders for individuals 18 years of age or older who are eligible for publicly funded behavioral health services, are involved in the criminal justice system, are in court-ordered community-based drug treatment, or have a high likelihood of criminal justice involvement.
Florida’s Learning Management System for Behavioral Health
This web-based LMS, funded by the Florida Department of Children and Families, offers free on-line courses for continuing education credit and certification in behavioral health with the goal of strengthening Florida’s substance use prevention system, behavioral health treatment services, workforce, and community partnerships. The system currently hosts an array of online courses, including:
- Florida’s Baker Act and Marchman Act
- Clinical Documentation and Treatment Planning
- Crisis Response and Care Coordination
- Motivational Interviewing
- Overdose Prevention
- Peer and Recovery Services
- Suicide Prevention
Training and Technical Assistance
This initiative, funded by the Florida Department of Children and Families, hosts an array of training and technical assistance efforts to support substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery service providers and stakeholders throughout the state of Florida:
- Resource Center
The web-based resource center hosts an array of authoritative third-party sources of information and news affecting care and treatment practice. - Training
Webinars and workshop on emerging topics taught by nationally recognized experts offered at no charge with a focus on Florida’s behavioral health needs and trends. Events provide an opportunity to earn continuing education credits. Recordings of past events are housed in the Resource Center. - Peer Prescriber Network
A network of prescribers, including physicians and nurses, with the background, education, and experience to serve as peers for other physicians and professionals who want to provide or support Medication-Assisted Treatment in Florida. - Corrections Training
FADAA developed and identified materials to support the expansion of the use of medication assisted treatment in correction settings in Florida. These training opportunities are available to all correction professionals around the state,
FADAA is a not-for-profit organization lead by a volunteer board of behavioral health professionals. FADAA does not provide any no renumeration or compensation to the board members. No state funds are used for renumeration for FADAA officers of board members. (Reported pursuant to s. 216.1366 F.S.)
