Good Candidates

Who is a Good Candidate?

  • Alcohol dependent patients, including patients with severe alcohol dependence
  • Opioid dependent patients, including patients with severe opioid dependence
  • Leaving jail or prison (receiving 1-2 injections prior to release and continuing protocol in the community)
  • Probationers and parolees
  • Young adults ages 18-25 (average age of patients is 40)
  • Healthcare professionals
  • Patients with private insurance
  • Patients with public benefits/coverage
  • Patients preparing to leave rehabilitation
  • Individuals leaving detox and those leaving detox with high relapse risk
  • Unable to receive or not appropriate for agonist (methadone)/partial agonist (buprenorphine) medications or unwilling to use agonist/ medications
  • Unable to stabilize on methadone or buprenorphine treatment
  • Both alcohol and opioid dependent
