Description:
Substance use is pervasive in human trafficking. For some individuals a substance use disorder may lead to trafficking, while others may develop a substance use disorder while being trafficked. Understanding the intersection of substance use and trauma with human trafficking is critical for behavioral health providers, their partners, and other professionals. This webinar will discuss the relationship between substance use and trafficking, present some case scenarios, and provide evidence-based strategies to support individuals with a substance use disorder who have been sex trafficked.

Objectives:

  1. Identify how substance use is related to human trafficking
  2. Describe how substance use impacts individuals who are trafficked
  3. Learn about how to support someone with substance use issues who has been trafficked

This webinar is designed for behavioral health practitioners, clinicians, health care providers, child and family welfare professionals, certified addiction professionals, peer specialists, program managers, supervisors, and executives in behavioral health agencies, Managing Entities, and Department of Children and Families program staff.

Presented by:
