Description:

Substance use disorders are multifaceted in nature and individuals’ treatment and recovery needs vary. Complementary and integrative strategies are gaining traction among behavioral health and medical professionals as an adjunct to conventional treatments and medication. This webinar will explore several complementary approaches for substance use disorders in terms of potential benefits, research, efficacy, and barriers. Clinicians will be provided a tool to help guide decisions about incorporating or recommending complementary and integrative therapies for their practice or individual clients.

Objectives:

  1. Define and identify types of complementary and integrative approaches.
  2. Discuss the integration of complementary approaches with conventional treatments, including benefits, efficacy, barriers, and limitations.
  3. Determine when integrative therapies are appropriate for treatment services.

This webinar is designed for behavioral health practitioners, prevention professionals, health care and community organizations, and executives in behavioral health agencies, Managing Entities, and Department of Children and Families program staff.
